In 2016, most Russians revelaed that they either picked up their pets from the streets or it was given as a gift. In 2019, however, most often pets were given by friends or relatives or bought by the owner. Over the last observed period, nearly one fifth of pet owners submitted that they picked their domestic animal from the street.
* Respondents were allowed to choose up to four possible options. The latest survey took place on November 23, 2019.
** Refers to the total number of respondents, not only pet owners.
